Youth and Politics | The Never Ending Dilemma 

Trying To balance

In a democracy politics is something which is by, of and for the people and works effectively only in the presence of vigilant public. For the functioning of politics in a country it is necessary that the citizen of that country are politically aware of the sensitive issues. But more political and civic awareness is not sufficient for the complete and proper functioning of politics. The active participation of public in the electoral competition and in real politics is necessary but due to current political situation prevailing in the country,many people develop cold feet when it comes to joining real politics. The fact that political parties become a haven for criminals apparently has dismayed many credible people from joining position and thus,people have become pessimistic about politics and governance.

The manifestation of this fact can be found during elections from the low voter turnouts and can also be noticed clearly from the opinion of the students after the declaration of the High School and Higher Secondary results. When asked what is their aim in future almost all the student sing the same song of engineers,doctors,lawyers,teachers, civil services affairs,etc....but the word politician is never uttered. Thus abstracting from politics has become a vogue among the youth. Thus tendency among the youth defect peers the political future of the country is danger. Youngsters form a very important part of the demographic condition as they are young, energetic and are filled with new ideas and views. The youth are also important in the sense that they are going to be the future stakeholder of the country's resources and cultures and will form the section of economically and socially active citizens, hence it is necessary that the citizens of tomorrow be politically vigilant and a soulfully power from now onwards.

Team Work

The future development of a country lies totally on how it utilizes its youth like us, but it's worth mentioning that the youth are not their only to serve the purpose of careers. Economist say that the production of a commodity is not possible only on the basis of land,capital and labor. All these three entities can produce a commodity only when they are combined properly in the presence of an efficient 'organization' or an 'entrepreneur' similarly only doctors,engineers and IAS officers cannot result in the overall progress of the country,they are to be properly organized and utilized by an efficient government in order to achieve development in the real sense. The vogue existing among the current generation is to any how crack a competitive examination and get hold of a government job and relax or to shift US,Canada Or Australia and settle there.

Every year there is a rat race among the youngsters to crack the entrance examinations. For getting into IITs, IIMs, AIIMS and cracking NET, UPSC examinations etc. But only a handful are seen seeking the membership of political parties to serve the nation. The society have formed an image on their minds that politics is something meant only for the rouges and is the worst place one can ever go in his or her entire life. But it is noteworthy that the youths are not given to experience such an image of politics from birth, but it is parents, teachers, media and the society as a whole who have created anti- politicians politics atmosphere around the youngsters and have drawn an evil picture of politics in their minds.

We must always remember- 'people make politics and politics make system' the presence of criminals in politics has made the electoral process a game of 'money' and 'muscle power'. The electoral system can be made free and fair only when there is a houseful of honest and capable people in politics.

We always blame the government for not doing anything for us, but we often forger the famous saying President John F Kennedy: 'Never ask your country what it has done for you, always ask yourself what you have done for your country'.Therefore, the parents, teachers,elders en masses should not inhibit their children or the youths from joining politics. On the contrary they should encouraging and motivating the youths to join politics. It is our responsibility to increase the number of honest and patriotic persons in the field of politics.
